“I could see that it was becoming serious, that the virus was going to be a serious issue so I decided to beat the rush by ordering additional toiletries early,” Ms Zerbe said.
“It amused the staff in the office but we never ran out of supplies, I just wanted to make sure the school wasn’t left in that situation. It’s very important the students aren’t at risk, or staff or visitors at the school.”
Ms Zerbe was proud to be nominated but said the entire staff had played their role and every school had people looking out for the community.
“The main thing is there’s someone in every school, I was just lucky enough to be nominated. It’s a role we’ve all taken on in every school, an important role,” she said.
“The children are in our care during the day and we want to ensure that any possible risk is reduced.
“It’s teachers all involved, it’s a joint effort and it’s a huge challenge, I’m always up for a challenge, to keep the school free from the spread of a possible virus.”
