THERE have been plenty of exciting innings this year in the Darwin & District Cricket Competition.
But who are the biggest boundary bashers and six hitters of the season?
The NT News has assessed the numbers and can now reveal the Top 10 biggest hitters from the 2022 season, across junior and senior grades.
And as you’d expect, the list is dominated by a number of batters who have topped the aggregates in their respective divisions this season.
When it comes to sixes, two Darwin batters top the list, Daniel Crowe and Jake Mundy.
However, the third and fourth position has gone to the one batter from PINT, who hit a total of 53 sixes across C Grade 1 and E Grade: Mariyatharsan Shanthakumar.
He also made our Top 10 list of boundary hitters in 2022.
Shanthakumar, who migrated to the Territory from his native Sri Lanka in 2015, said hitting long balls was his “natural game”.
He was most proud of his C Grade 1 innings against Darwin, 135 not out off 197 balls, with 17 sixes.
“We lost an early wicket so I tried to just hang around, and then over the last five or six overs I hit about six or seven sixes,” Shanthakumar said.

The Palmerston junior has had an incredible season in 2022, with the club announcing earlier this month his 51 not out in E Grade took him past the 1000-run barrier.
However, in Under 15s McMahon has been a true boundary blaster, hitting 21 in an innings of 114 of just 60 balls against Tracy Village.
Daniel Murphy
