UPDATE: A DARWIN Inpex worker who was put into isolation after being suspected of having coronavirus has returned a negative test result.
Inpex NT general manager Roland Houareau said the person had been put into self-isolation following advice from the Department of Health.
As a precautionary measure, some additional personnel have also self-isolated.
“Our priority is the health and well-being of the people who work with us and the safe operation of our facilities,” he said.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely. We have also put in place a series of active measures to support the health and well-being of our personnel.”
EARLIER: Darwin Inpex workers have been sent home today because of a suspected coronavirus case among the plant’s employees, sources have said.
Sources inside the Darwin Inpex site told the NT News that non-essential workers in their main offices were told to go home today.

It’s understood these measures were taken after an employee — believed to be a FIFO worker — was suspected to have been exposed to coronavirus.
