HUNDREDS have gathered near Parliament House in Darwin’s CBD to celebrate the role of Indigenous people in the Northern Territory.
The event began at the State Square lawn in Darwin’s CBD on Friday morning, with crowds bearing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags gathering in a show of unity.

Coffee stalls and a sausage sizzle were also provided.
Among those at the event was Toni Savellos, who said the event was about “coming together and acknowledging the past troubles and the present troubles we still face”.
“It’s to show we are one, we want to be recognised as a culture,” Ms Savellos said.
“We have a long way to go to get positive outcomes for more equality for our future.”
