Covid NT: 835 cases on Saturday

In a sign the Territory’s monster Omicron wave could be easing, authorities have reported fewer than 1000 Covid-19 cases for the first time in just under a week.

THE Northern Territory has reported a slight dip in Covid-19 cases.

Secure NT reported on Saturday that another 835 cases were reported in the 24 hours to 8pm Friday.

Of that figure, 450 cases were reported in the Top End, 141 in Central Australia, 71 in East Arnhem, 29 in the Big Rivers region, 34 in the Barkly region and 110 are under investigation.

Hospitalisations again fell, with just 127 patients in hospital. There are 18 patients requiring oxygen and two patients in intensive care.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 6,467.

FRIDAY FEB 18: Territory records 1027 new cases

ONE more person has died with Covid-19 in the Northern Territory, as the jurisdiction again records over 1000 cases.

The man in his 50s was from Katherine and had underlying health conditions.

He died at Katherine Hospital.

There has now been 14 Covid related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic.

This comes as there were 1027 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in the NT.

520 cases were recorded in the Top End region, 198 in Central Australia, 123 in East Arnhem, 34 in the Big Rivers region, 37 in the Barkly region and 115 are under investigation.

Hospitalisations have dropped slightly again to 127 with 18 patients requiring oxygen and one person in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 6856.

THURSDAY FEB 17: Territory records 1045 new cases

THE Northern Territory has again recorded over 1000 cases of Covid-19.

There were 1045 infections detected in the Territory on Thursday.

Hospitalisations have dropped slightly to 137, with 21 people requiring oxygen.

There was one patient in intensive care.

531 of Thursday’s cases recorded in the Top End region, 170 in Central Australia, 103 in East Arnhem, 53 in the Big Rivers region, 45 in the Barkly region and 143 are under investigation.

The number of active cases in the NT was around 6,977, according to Secure NT.

It’s the third straight day of the Territory reporting between 1000 and 1100 new Covid cases.

WEDNESDAY FEB 16: Territory records 1050 new cases

THREE people have died in the Northern Territory in the past 24 hours, marking the pandemic’s deadliest day so far.

They were a woman in her 40s from the Barkly region, a woman in her 40s from a remote Central Australian community, and a woman in her 70s from a remote community in the Big Rivers region.

Despite the grim news, there has been no dedicated Covid-19 press conference announced by the NT government.

Wednesday’s numbers take the Covid-19 death toll in the Territory to 13.

There were 1050 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the 24 hours to 8pm Tuesday evening.

There were 143 patients in hospital, 25 of which needed oxygen assistance to breathe.

One person was in intensive care.

There were 616 cases recorded in the Top End region, 167 in Central Australia, 107 in East Arnhem, 28 in the Big Rivers region, 45 in the Barkly region and 87 are under investigation.

TUESDAY FEB 15: Territory records 1086 new cases

The Northern Territory has recorded 1086 new cases of Covid-19, with 623 of the new infections being from the Top End region.

There were a further 190 cases recorded in Central Australia, 72 in East Arnhem, 69 in the Big Rivers region and 48 in the Barkly region while 84 are under investigation.

The number of people with Covid in Territory hospitals has slightly declined to 156 patients with 22 people requiring oxygen and one person in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 7233.

MONDAY, FEB 14: Territory records over 750 new cases

The Northern Territory recorded 757 new cases of Covid-19, including 515 in the Top End region.

There were a further 100 cases in Central Australia, 43 in East Arnhem, 23 in the Big Rivers region, 21 in the Barkly and 55 under investigation.

Case numbers reported on Sunday, February 13 were also revised from 757 to 767.

There are 164 people in NT hospitals, with 19 patients on oxygen. One person is in intensive care.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 7229.
