A new millionaire is walking the streets of Darwin after scoring big in the Lotto – but they haven’t claimed their winnings yet.
Coolalinga Newsagency owner Jason Barling sold the winning ticket to one lucky Territorian – or visitor – but hasn’t had the chance to celebrate since the entry was drawn on Monday.
“We can’t believe we’ve sold a division one winning entry and it’s fantastic to see another millionaire in the Northern Territory,” he said.
“We have done some decorating and will enjoy sharing the winning news and excitement with our customers this week.”
Mr Barling said he had sold seven division one winning tickets in 17 years and hoped to get on a “winning streak” for the shop.
“We hope our elusive winner makes the most of their division one windfall and that they can enjoy this life-changing moment for many years to come,” he said.
“May all of your dreams come true.”
The NT Lotto player bought one of four division one tickets drawn nationally on Monday and Wednesday and is set to take home a cool million.
The Lott spokeswoman Anna Hobdell said she was excited to share the news with the winner but had not been able to reach them over the past two days.
“You may not think it’s possible you’re the division one winner we’re searching for, but if you have an entry from Coolalinga Newsagency that you haven’t checked yet, you’re in with a chance,” she said.
“If you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket in Monday and Wednesday Lotto then we urge you to contact the Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”
