The initiative was announced in the City of Palmerston’s Municipal Plan and Budget 2021/22 that was approved at a council meeting on Tuesday night.
The budget also includes a rate rise of 2.4 per cent but it only means a increase of $20 instead of $30 because of a $10 reduction in waste charges.
The SWELL project has been allocated $15 million to refurbish the Palmerston pool facility, $500,000 will be spent on the Greening and Cooling the City program in a bid to help cool the city during the hotter months and there is $350,000 for a new regional dog park in Zuccoli.
