Catering deals could be revisited at Howard Springs facility, Health Minister Natasha Fyles says

THE NT government is considering calling for proposals again to provide catering services at the Howard Springs quarantine facility once it takes over management of the entire facility.
Two providers are currently providing catering for the people inside the Howard Springs facility, Karen Sheldon Catering covers international arrivals, and Northern Rise Village Services Pty covers domestic.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles flagged the government would revisit current catering arrangements once they take over the governance of the gold-standard facility.
“Expanding the Howard Springs quarantine facility to welcome 2000 international arrivals a fortnight will be a huge logistical job, but we will do it safely and efficiently,” she said.
“When it comes to feeding those during their stay, the government will consider calling for suitable proposals to provide catering services as part of the expansion process.”

Karen Sheldon said she would be “keen” to talk to the government about continuing her businesses services when the time came.
“The most important thing for me is the Aboriginal training program we’ve been running alongside our catering at the facility,” she said.
The Northern Rise Village Services Pty Ltd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Delaware North which runs Mindil Beach Casino Resort.
