A CAR window was smashed after police received multiple reports of rocks being thrown at vehicles in Alice Springs on Thursday afternoon.
Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said police received two calls about half an hour apart and each occasion no one was found at the location.
“There was some rock throwing in The Gap on Thursday at 5.30pm,” Sgt Phillips said.
“There was one car with a broken window but there were no injuries or anything like that.”
Sgt Phillips said it was easy for perpetrators to disappear and hide in The Gap.
“Given that area people can disappear quite quickly, there’s lots of scrubland on either side,” he said.
Sgt Phillips encouraged people to report rock throwing to police when they could.
“Where you can try and get as much detail and description of the person involved,” he said.
“Obviously it [rock throwing] is a very, very dangerous activity and we encourage people to continue to report it to police.”
