Anggie Wibowo showed her talents winning the incredibly classy Derby Day fashions of the field in a dress of her own making.
In the day of the Darwin Cup Carnival where black and white brought out the best in fashion she triumphed against a strong line-up of local and interstate fashionistas.
“I’m very happy to have won the Derby Day fashions with my own design,” she said.
“I sewed the dress myself with Aboriginal fabric and to come and join this and be the winner is great.”
Terri Hart placed second while Bridget Meve rounded out the podium from a strong group of nine contenders for the top spot, from which the winner goes into the Darwin Cup.
Fashions emcee Amanda Jarrett said Derby Day was one of the best on the racing calendar when it came to fashion with hundreds taking on the colour challenge.
“It’s my favourite race day fashion wise, there’s something about that black and white tradition,” she said.
“I’m always impressed, the Darwin ladies always bring it and it’s great to have visitors come from interstate and know they have a lot of competition up here in Darwin.
“At the Darwin Cup Carnival we get to showcase so many incredible designers and put them on a worldwide stage, so it’s a perfect showcase.”
Carnival ambassador Bronte Pearson said Derby Day brought out a special classiness, which set it apart from other race days.
“Derby Day is one of my personal favourite days of Carnival, the ladies always dress so classy in the black and white,” Ms Pearson said.
