Central Australian filmmaker Isaac Elliott’s latest “horror-comedy” has played internationally and over East, but it’s the Alice Springs reception he’s most excited to see.

“Everything I’ve made up until this point has been very Alice Springs or come out of remote areas, whereas this one came out of 250 days of lockdown in Melbourne,” he said.

“It’s very exciting to be able to bring a city-focused film back to Alice Springs.”

Elliott described ‘Don’t Come in … Yet!’ as an “absurd, strange horror-comedy”, exploring the idea of people with disabilities being painted as heroes.

Isaac Elliott said the film would feature an “exciting cameo”, hinting “think the Booney or Warney of AFL”.

The film follows a paraplegic boy and his girlfriend attempting to “do as they would like” while being home alone, before being interrupted by an overbearing father, a large spider, and an ageing football star.

Elliott hinted that there was a “fantastic cameo, a bit of an unexpected twist”.

“Think the Booney or the Warney of AFL.”

Premiering at Dances With Films in Los Angeles, the ten-minute short film has also been shown at the New York Shorts International Film Festival and Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival.

“It’s very interesting seeing Americans reactions, because it’s such an Australian film,” he said.

Don’t Come in … Yet! will be on show at Araluen Arts Centre on Friday, March 17 as part of the Flickerfest Best of Australian Shorts program.

Flickerfest’s Best of International Shorts will be on display at the same venue on Saturday, March 18.

Flickerfest is currently on its tour around Australia, reaching Katherine and Darwin in July.
