MYSTERY surrounds the ongoing disappearance from the airwaves of Mix 104.9 breakfast presenter Ali Burton.

Officially, the station has told the NT News that Ms Burton is on leave but she has now been missing from the brekkie airwaves for several weeks.

Industry insiders have suggested Ms Burton may not return to the role but this has not been confirmed.

In November, her former co-host Greg Vincent quit the station.

At the time, the NT News reported that while the duo seemed friendly towards each other on air, the pair did not get on behind the scenes.

Ms Burton, a few days after Mr Vincent left the show, said she was excited for 2021.

“Who knows what the future will hold,” she said.

“We will be there for the Top End community.”

Vincent left the station after almost eight years.

Station management said he left on “excellent terms”.

Ms Burton has been contacted for comment.

Mix 104.9 general manager Mike Harvey said Ms Burton was on “extended leave” from the station but would return at some point.

“She will be coming back, but we don’t have a date at this stage,” he said.

“We’re just giving her some time.”

He said the station was still in contact with Ms Burton and would “work through” the details of her return when she was ready.

Mr Harvey said in the meantime, Mix 104.9 drive announcer Andrew Thain would be filling in for Ms Burton on the breakfast show.
