A NT News video of a drove of feral pigs trying to save their bacon swimming across a treacherous croc infested Northern Territory waterway has gone viral.
The video, which was captured in the Daly River and shows the lead pig being hit like a torpedo by a two to three metre long croc, has captured the attention of our audience with more than 530,000 views in less than 24 hours.
Surprisingly the crocodile’s jaws were no match for the tough skin of the feral pig which took its drove of followers on a quick U-turn in the middle of the river.
The footage was captured by our staffer Tiina Urvet who tells us that while she has definitely seen wild pigs on the banks of the Daly River before in numbers- and occasionally a few of them crossing the river - she has never seen that many crossing all at once.
“When we came around the bend it looked like a new rock bar,” she said.
“Then is started moving.
“You always know there are crocs around, but we weren’t expecting one to come in while we were there.
“Great Territory action.
“And while many may disagree, we were clearly rooting for the pigs to get away.”
