Men charged after alleged attack on Groote Eylandt campers

A couple camping in the remote Territory Top End were left terrified after they were allegedly assaulted and detained during a weekend getaway.
NT Police said three men – aged 18, 18, and 20 – allegedly threatened and assaulted the man and woman in their tent at 10.15pm on Saturday.
They said the couple received blunt force injuries and were treated at a nearby clinic.
Police said the alleged offenders knew their victims.
The trio was arrested on Sunday and hit with 14 charges between them, including making a threat to kill a person, attempting to pervert the course of justice, armed with an offensive weapon, and aggravated robbery.
They will also face two counts of depriving a person of their liberty, two counts of damage to property, and six counts of aggravated assault.
The three men will appear in Darwin Local Court on Tuesday.
