Updated, May 12: Police say they have still not yet been able to interview a young man who was stabbed multiple times at Varsity Lakes last week, saying he is in a “bad way”.
Police were called to an address at Grevillia Dr, Varsity Lakes at about 8.15pm Wednesday, May 7, to reports a man had been wounded.
A 24-year-old Parkwood man was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
On Monday, May 12, Acting Chief Superintendent Peter Miles revealed the Parkwood man had been stabbed “six to seven times”, predominantly to the back and torso.
No arrests have been made.
Superintendent Miles said police had been unable to interview the young stabbing victim as yet.
“The victim is still in a pretty bad way, thankfully he’s going to pull through,” Superintendent Miles said.
“He is a very lucky man.”
Superintendent Miles said police anticipated making arrests over the attack.
“Detectives from Gold Coast CIB are following up a number of lines of inquiry, they’re confident they will make an arrest.”
From enquiries made thus far, a “number of versions” of what occurred on the night in question had been received, Superintendent Miles added.

Initial, May 8: Police have launched a major investigation after a 24-year-old man was found in a serious condition with multiple stab wounds at Varsity Lakes.
A member of the public called paramedics and police to the scene on Grevillea Dr, near Frascott Ave at about 8.15pm on Wednesday after finding the Parkwood man with several serious injuries.
Paramedics rushed the man to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said officers were not able to find any other people who may have been involved in the incident at the scene. They urged anyone with information to come forward.
Plain clothes detectives remained near the scene late on Thursday morning. They were seen door knocking homes and speaking with residents.
