A man out on bail accused of possessing child exploitation material cut a relaxed figure in his latest court appearance, leaning back in his seat and smiling to his lawyer.

The now 70-year-old man – who this masthead cannot name due to legal reasons – was back in Alice Springs Local Court on Thursday.

He is facing three counts of accessing child abuse material, two counts of possessing or controlling child abuse material, and one count of failure to comply with an order to prove information or assistance.

He did not enter a plea at his latest hearing.

The man was arrested on July 4 this year in Alice Springs by the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team, after a search of his property two months prior.

The man is alleged to have been in possession of two encrypted micro-SD cards, which police said they uncovered the material from.

He was 69-years-old at the time of his arrest.

He first appeared in a closed-court mention on July 18, where Judge David Woodroffe granted him bail.

At his latest hearing, he sat in court before Judge Sarah McNamara, smiling to his lawyer when they spoke.

His brief mention saw his defence lawyer Mitchell Donaldson push for an adjournment.

He will return to court on November 28.
