Katherine Family Medical Practice to close after four years, leaving patients in limbo

After four years of service, Katherine Family Medical Practice will close on March 28, 2025, raising concerns over GP access in the region.

Katherine Family Medical Practice (KFMP) will close next month, after just four years of service.

The clinic was established in 2021 to fill a critical gap in local healthcare.

Currently, the practice has one on-site doctor, Dr Cat White, and a second GP, Dr Jarred Pezzullo, offering limited telehealth services.

Dr Pezzullo is open to continuing remote consultations for Katherine residents, but this depends on arrangements with another clinic.

The closure raises fresh concerns about access to general practitioners in the region.

While two private medical practices now operate in Katherine, the loss of KFMP could increase pressure on remaining services.

KFMP’s management has assured patients they will assist with the transfer of medical records to new providers.

Those requiring ongoing treatment or prescriptions are encouraged to make arrangements before the clinic’s final day.

Dr White, who relocated to Katherine for her role, has not yet confirmed whether she and her family will remain in the community.

Patients will be updated once a decision is made.

KFMP expressed gratitude to the Katherine community for its support and acknowledged NT Primary Health Network and Katherine Hospital for their assistance.

For more information on medical record transfers, patients can contact the clinic at 08 7903 2160 or visit www.kfmp.com.au.
