A man accused of murdering his elderly father has been committed to stand trial in the Northern Territory Supreme Court.
On November 4, 2023, emergency services were called to a McMillans Rd residence where a 71-year-old man was found unresponsive.
The man was declared dead at the scene.
The deceased man’s son, Jake Joshua Fenner, now 30, was subsequently arrested and charged with murder and has since been held in remand.
On Monday afternoon, Mr Fenner appeared in the dock of the Darwin Local Court represented by his lawyer Peter Maley.
The prosecution provided its evidence to Judge Alan Woodcock, who said he was satisfied the matter could progress.
“I have considered the material, the evidence is sufficient to place the defendant on this trial.”
The case will now go before the Northern Territory Supreme Court on December 5, 2024.
