A man charged with the alleged domestic violence murder of his father in Darwin has had his matter mentioned in court.
Jake Joshua Fenner, 29, was excused from attending the brief hearing at the Darwin Local Court on Wednesday.
Mr Fenner remains on remand, charged with murder, after his 71-year-old father was found unresponsive in a swimming pool at his Moil home on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Emergency services were called to the McMillans Rd property at about 5pm on that day.
The 71-year-old was declared dead at the scene.
His exact cause of death was unknown at the time police arrived and a crime scene was declared.
Mr Fenner was charged with murder the next evening.
He did not apply for bail at his first court appearance in November.
Mr Fenner is also charged with a string of unrelated driving offences, including driving unregistered and disqualified, not stopping after a crash, making a false report to police and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Both cases were adjourned and he is due to return to court on March 13.
