A pair of 13-year-olds have been arrested over allegations a stolen car was used to plough through a Parap vape store to pillage it of its stock.

NT Police Northern Watch Commander Greg Lamb said a car was driven into the Super Vape Store’s front doors at about 5am Tuesday.

Police allege the car had earlier been stolen from a Moil home.

He said nearby witnesses saw a group of people entering the Parap shop, but it was unclear how many individuals were involved.

Sergeant Lamb said an unknown number of items were stolen from the shop, and police were investigating the robbery.

Police arrested two 13-year-olds over their alleged involvment, and were searching for two others allegedly connected to the ram raid.

AJ Security Darwin worker Nadia Chang said the shop’s owners couldn’t be reached and the news when they eventually arrived at the shop would be a sad surprise.

“It’s terrible,” she said.

Ms Chang said AJ Security had been contracted to watch the store when it was previously broken into two weeks ago.

Acting Police Commissioner Michael Murphy said the Parap business was the latest victim of a string of alleged smash-and-grab ram raids.

He said three other businesses had been hit in recent days, including Attitude for Men, the Cavenagh Hotel, and a Mantra hotel.

Police will allege one of the children had previous interactions with police, while the other was unknown to law enforcement.

“This is where diversion can actually count and make a difference, basically put someone on track,” he said.

“We want to move out of the active space, into practice engagement and actually suppress crime, deter crime and engage and get people out of this pathway.”

Mr Murphy said police were working on the “bonds of trust” between families and officers, so parents felt comfortable reporting their children to cops.

“It’s proven across crime types across the world, Mum knows this has happened, mum knows when something is wrong,” he said.

“If mums, or parents or dads are listening in and you know your family is involved in these crime types make sure to let us know.”
