One of the Gold Coast’s most popular hospitality hubs has taken another hit as the owners of a beloved restaurant announce its last day of trading.

Ally Chow owners Trent and Leisha Scarr have sold their Asian-inspired eatery after six years at Nobby Beach and said this weekend would be their last at the venue.

Ms Scarr said, while the business had been a “great success”, it was “time to say goodbye”.

“For now we will enjoy our first relaxing summer in six years and then head into fresh new ventures in 2025,” she said.

She said they decided to sell the business in April to give them time to “move on to the next adventure”.

“We are certainly not leaving the restaurant scene and will continue to operate Billy Chow at Kirra while spreading our wings to other venues next year,” she said.

Ms Scarr said ongoing Light Rail Stage 3 construction on their doorstep had not impacted their trading.

“Our trading remains consistent and we thank the locals who have remained loyal and continued their support,” she said.

Ms Scarr said Ally Chow had fulfilled their expectations of what their first restaurant could be.

“The inspiration for Ally came from a desire to bring a unique dining experience to the Coast. An ‘Asian wonderland’,” she said.

“Our passion for great food and service has remained consistent and we believe this has created the following we have.”

Ms Scarr said the venue’s new owners were expected to keep a similar offering to Ally Chow.

Ally Chow’s last day of trading under its current ownership is October 6.
