A concreter stole six bottles of champagne, designer towels, doona covers and chocolates from a Gold Coast Instagram influencer while staying at her home through Airbnb.
Rodney Lucht broke into locked cupboards to steal the $3000 in manchester, which included Alex Perry towels, a St Barts quilt and designer cotton sheets.
He had been staying at the home of influencer and personal coach Cassandra House in April 2018, which she was renting on Airbnb.
She had locked the more expensive items in a cupboard.
Lucht walked from Southport District Court this week after pleading guilty to burglary.
Judge Katherine McGinness sentenced him to 12 months’ prison, to be wholly suspended for a year.
Crown prosecutor Stephanie Gallagher described the theft as “seemingly opportunistic” and “in breach of privacy and trust”.
Defence barrister Sarah Thompson, instructed by Gatenby Criminal Lawyers, said Lucht, 40, had been suffering a drug problem at the time after a workplace injury left him unable to work.
She said since that time Lucht had kicked his drug habit and started a concreting business which has three employees.
