Ms Keyes moved from the UK to the Gold Coast eight years ago “for a better life” for her children.

“There’s more opportunity for young kids to develop more,” she said.

Ms Keyes has had a unique career as a nail artist and found her way on to film sets after a client – who was a movie industry make-up artist – put her name forward

“I went in for a trial and they have used me ever since,” she said.

Ms Keyes said she has worked on clients including Nicole Kidman (Aquaman), Julia Roberts (Ticket to Paradise), Amber Heard (Aquaman), Olivia DeJonge (Elvis), Leighton Meester (Good Cop/Bad Cop) and more.

She said she felt privileged to have a backstage pass to see behind the scenes of the film industry and the creation of a production.

“A special moment on set for me was when I took my then-14-year-old daughter Paige on the Elvis set,” she said.

“Baz (Luhrmann, director of Elvis) didn’t forget a thing. (The set) was incredible and was like we went back in time.”

Ms Keyes said she fell in-love with painting nails as a “little girl” and decided to start her career in the industry at 16.

“I used to watch my mum as a little girl paint her nails and I was so mesmerised by them,” she said.

Ms Keyes dominated the best nail technician poll, finishing with 42 per cent of the votes.

Geld By Jem came in at second with 17 per cent and The Nail Room secured third place with 12 per cent.
