It is hard to beat George Clooney and Julia Roberts gallivanting around Queensland’s tourism hot spots.

Universal Pictures has released the debut trailer for romantic comedy Ticket to Paradise, which reunites the star Hollywood duo and was filmed on location across Queensland, including Hamilton Island, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The trailer, which made global headlines on Thursday, showcases the stars jetting across the blue waters of Hamilton Island, where Clooney gets bitten by a dolphin, and enjoying luxury tropical resorts.

In an on-screen reunion for the acting duo, Clooney and Roberts play bitter divorcees who are forced to reunite when their daughter, played by Kaitlyn Dever, announces she is getting married to a man she just met in Bali.

Ticket To Paradise scored $6.4 million in Federal government funding as well as backing from Screen Queensland to bring it to Queensland, which doubled as Bali for the film.

The Hollywood stars created a buzz when they arrived in Queensland late last year, filming for three months from November.

Production crews were spotted filming on locations across Hamilton Island, including the remote Haslewood Island, luxury Qualia Resort, and tourist hotspot Catseye Beach.

Meanwhile Clooney caused a stir when he filmed at Centenary pool in Brisbane, while other locations included Mount Tamborine and Moreton Island.

Clooney travelled to Queensland with his wife Amal Clooney and their two children.

They were often spotted dining out together in the state, including enjoying brunch with Roberts at Brisbane’s Calile Hotel in December.

Production was temporarily suspended in January due to the severity of the Omicron outbreak in Queensland. When the situation eased, the actors returned the following month to complete the final weeks of filming.

Ticket to Paradise is directed by Ol Parker, of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again fame, and also stars Billie Lourd and Lucas Bravo.
It is due for release in Australian cinemas on September 15.
