Road blocked by car after crash in Pimpama, rollover on M1 near Smith Street

Police are investigating after an Audi bearing stolen number plates crashed into a parked vehicle - blocking a suburban Gold Coast road during peak hour.

Police are investigating after an Audi bearing stolen number plates crashed into a parked vehicle in Pimpama.

A Gold Coast police spokeswoman said they were called to the incident on Sudbury Drive at around 7.37am on Monday.

The spokeswoman said the Audi had crashed into a Jeep Gladiator, causing “extensive damage” to both vehicles and blocking the road.

The number plates on the Audi were stolen from a 2024 Subaru Outback.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said they assessed a man who had minor injuries and took him to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The incident was one of two to cause traffic headaches on the northern Gold Coast on Monday morning.

Two lanes of the M1 were closed after a car rolled in a three-car collision southbound near the Smith Street exit around 7.22am.

Two lanes of the motorway were blocked by police, causing significant delays for morning motorists.

At 8am traffic was backed up to Pimpama.

The police spokeswoman said the area was cleared by 9am.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said they assessed one person who had minor injuries and declined to be taken to hospital.
