It comes only two days after a 57-year-old Murrarie man died after a car crashed into him while he was standing outside his ute in Yatala.
A Queensland Police statement outlined the key factors which contribute to serious crashes were: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.
The statement linked to startling statistics which said speeding 5km//h over the limit was enough to double the chance of a fatal crash.
It also said failure to wear a seatbelt was one of the leading causes of road deaths.
The statistics also highlighted that mobile phones and distraction can increase the risk of crashing by four times.
