Top End eateries are prepping to serve up creative laksa-inspired dishes with the Territory’s most delicious festival just around the corner.

Gunner announces new laksa festival and competition to boost tourism

THE Territory’s most delicious dish is serving up another festival filled with taste bud-tingling flavours inspired by the worshipped delicacy.

A long list of creations have been compiled in preparation for the Darwin International Laksa Festival 2021.

Fannie Bay Gourmet Meats owner Terry Wilkins said he was always trying to create something with a big difference.

“This year we have laksa chicken sausages, filled with fresh herbs and spices,” Mr Wilkins said.

“This is our first laksa sausage and so far it seems to be going really well.”

Chief Minister Michael Gunner said it was only one week to go until Territorians would embark on a mouth-watering food tour across the Territory.

“This festival is about the food – but it’s also all about supporting jobs, and choosing to buy local, especially in the wet season,” Mr Gunner said.

This year there have been a record 93 entries from 63 businesses right around the Territory.

For the first time, the NT News is sponsoring two categories: the People’s Choice Sweet and Savoury options.
