THE dedicated Darwin International Laksa Festival mobile phone app that cost almost $30,000 to redevelop has been downloaded by more than 2000 people since October, according to the NT government.

With two weeks left until the food festival comes to an official close on November 29, data from the app shows more than 700 votes have been cast for the People’s Choice Award with the competition “incredibly close”.

The app, which suffered a last-minute glitch before the festival kicked off, also allows people to track how much laksa they’ve consumed.

A total of 1770 dishes have been tasted to date.

Registrations are now open to attend the Festival Day on Sunday, November 29.

Tickets are free, but registrations will track numbers and assist in managing COVID-19 requirements.
