Many Geelong residents would likely agree with FBoy Island host Abbie Chatfield, who says she loves the city way more than the state’s capital down the road.

And the popular podcaster says she is excited to be visiting G-town in November.

“I have a real issue with Melbourne, but I have spent a fair bit of time in Geelong considering my hate for Melbourne,” she said.

“I love that there’s such a nice community vibe.

“I just hate everything about (Melbourne) except for the people but Geelong has the Melbourne vibe of people and is more Brisbane-esque and its beautiful on the water.

“So its like Geelong for me is the perfect symphony of joy.”

Chatfield is taking her The Trauma Dump Tour regional for the first time and said she didn’t know yet how it would differ from a major city tour.

With a laugh, she said she did note ticket sales were probably harder after unfortunately having to cancel shows in Ballarat, Cairns, Caloundra and Port Macquarie.

“To be fair I don’t like to check numbers of any kind, podcast listens, ticket sales, I just get told if we have to do something about it,” she said.

“I feel like I am better being in the dark but I haven’t been told they (Geelong tickets) are going poorly so I am sure they are going well.”

As part of her promotion of the show, Chatfield created a “web series” of what she loves about each of the cities and towns the show would be touring to.

“It was a full blown production with the power-points and the research of the towns but it was really fun,” she said.

In her Geelong video, she listed the things she loves most about the town, which included how the Kardinia Cafe is open 24/7, Lamby’s with its Mario Kart themed drink and how Missy Higgins attended Geelong Grammar School.

Chatfield said speaking to her partner, Adam Hyde, who is one half of the Peking Duk duo, he said regional tours were more intimate and could be more fun.

“(He said) you get to have more of an interaction with the audience and people in regional towns are way more involved in live shows,” she said.

“They really enjoy when people come to their towns and cities so hopefully he is correct.”

The show, which is a stand up show and will include three stories about men Chatfield once dated who did “crazy s***”.

“These men are losers and all they are now is comedic entertainment,” she said.

“I hope people come along and have a laugh and a great time.”

The show is one night only at Costa Hall in Geelong on November 2 and is recommended for audiences 16 years and older.

Tickets are available online.
