Man charged with attempted murder following alleged Whittington stabbing

Police have charged a man with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing which happened in Whittington on Monday.

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Whittington.

Police were called to Irwin Court about 7.30pm on Monday, after a Whittington man was located in the street with stab wounds.

The victim’s neighbour, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Geelong Advertiser at the time of confronting scenes when the male victim “rocked up” at his doorstep covered in blood on Monday evening.

He said the man said the victim had multiple stab wounds to his lower body, particularly around his buttocks.

He then called police and paramedics, who rushed to the scene

“He was screaming halfway up my driveway,” he said.

“It wasn’t good.

“I’ve only just finished cleaning (the blood off) my front porch.”

The 47-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was in a serious but stable condition Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday morning large spots of blood could still be seen on the footpath trailed from Solar Drive to Irwin Court, near a childcare centre and children’s playground.

Sergeant Megan Stefanec said a 30-year-old North Geelong man has been charged with attempted murder and intentionally causing serious injury in relation to the alleged stabbing.

The man remains in custody pending a court appearance at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 30 September.
