Geelong’s best Indian restaurant, as voted by Addy readers, does its best to cater for every palette.
Khan Curry Hut has been a staple on Ryrie St for more than 20 years, and won the competition with 67 of 299 votes.
There were 14 Indian restaurants nominated across the region.
Khan Curry Hut owner Zeeshan Jameel said he was not expecting the restaurant to be chosen as the best.
“Khan Curry Hut has been in business in Geelong since 2002 so we have a lot of regular customers who love our food,” he said.
“The best part of the business is talking to the customers, seeing their faces and how they enjoy the service and food as we are serving them what they love.”
Mr Jameel said he also tried to promote authentic curries around Geelong and surrounding areas.
“The unique thing about us is we cater for Australian customers with western-style curries so we use a lot of cream and try to cater to people who can’t have too much spicy food,” he said.
”And then when we have customers from Indian or Pakistan they want more authentic curries so we cater for them too.
”We have a massive menu with gluten and dairy free, vegan options so one reason we are pretty popular is we try to cater to what people need and want.”
Mr Jameel said the restaurant’s second floor was also a popular venue for events.
“We want to thank the people of Geelong for voting us as the best Indian restaurant in Geelong,” he said.
