Corio man caught with pointed gardening tool, Newcomb man with 10 outstanding warrants arrested by police

A man has been busted in central Geelong carrying a pointed gardening tool on Monday morning, while another man with 10 outstanding warrants was taken into custody in Newcomb.

A man has been busted in central Geelong carrying a pointed gardening tool on Monday morning while another man with 10 outstanding warrants was taken into custody.

Police responded to a triple-0 call about 5.20am about a man acting suspiciously and casing the premise of the Amazing Mill Markets on the Bellarine Highway.

A 43-year-old Newcomb man was arrested by police.

Senior Sergeant Aaron Riches said the man had 10 outstanding warrants and was charged with a string of offences including driving while disqualified, theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of possessing a drug of dependence.

The man is expected to front the Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday.

Sergeant Riches said another man was also arrested on Monday morning in Westfield Geelong, near the Coles supermarket.

Officers responded to a triple-0 call about 7.30am about a man in possession of a pointed gardening tool.

A 26-year-old Corio man, who was also wanted on warrants, was arrested and interviewed by police.

He has been charged with theft and will front the Geelong Magistrates Court at a later date.

“Victoria Police continue to work hard with the Westfield security group to ensure public safety is prioritised,” Sergeant Riches said.

“Foot patrols are ongoing.”
