A teenager riding an electric bike was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in a northern Geelong suburb on Monday evening.

The car collided with the 14-year-old boy at the intersection of Rollins and Edison roads in Bell Post Hill about 6.20pm.

He was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital and was in a stable condition on Tuesday morning, a spokeswoman said.

The male driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been assisting police.

Investigations remain ongoing in relation to the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The incident comes a month after a seven-year-old child was seriously injured after being hit by a female riding an electric bike on the footpath of Princes Highway in Norlane.

The woman left the scene without providing her identity or rendering assistance to the child, a police spokeswoman said at the time.

Both of the boy’s legs were broken.

Police said the rider appeared to be a young female around 155cm tall, with dark wavy hair who was last seen riding south towards Sparks Rd.
