GDFL Stats Round 18: Caleb Bacely tops charts as Winchelsea guns dominate

A Panther posted the top score of the round against the top side, while plenty of Winchelsea guns went large. See all the ranking points and the top 35 performers of the round.

Bell Post Hill ball magnet Caleb Bacely capped his home-and-away season with the top ranking points total against the top team in Thomson.

Bacely won a mountain of the footy, finishing with 39 disposals, 30 kicks, 11 marks, 10 rebound 50s and 172 Premier Data ranking points in the Panthers’ 14-point win over the Tigers.

The Panthers had no shortage of contributors with Jett Herrmann tallying the seventh-highest total of the round with 149 ranking points, 31 disposals and 15 contested possessions, while Will Ford bagged six goals as Dylan Witney racked up 29 disposals, 16 contested and 138 points.

Player-coach Adam Donohue was close behind Bacely with an imposing six-goal haul against a disappointing Werribee Centrals, logging 26 disposals, 11 marks and 170 ranking points.

Hawk Dalton Grundell also had a big day at the office in the thumping 105-point win with 28 disposals, 13 marks, four goals and 152 points.

Winchelsea had three of the top 11 ranked performers of the round in its victory over Anakie as Edward Smith (36 disposals, 2 goals and 156 ranking points), Caleb Brown (29 disposals, 11 tackles, 10 clearances and 152 points), Leigh Ellis (19 disposals, 12 marks, 8 goals and 147 points) and Finlay Parish (31 disposals, 11 marks and 139 points) all dominated.

Ellis’ bag was the biggest for the round, with his eight-goal proving the difference in the 53-point win.

Blake Miller was the matchwinner in North Geelong’s first win of the season, tallying 21 disposals, 11 contested possessions, nine clearances, three goals and 139 ranking points as Toby Bennett (36 disposals, 24 kicks, 148 points) provided resistance for Corio.

Meanwhile, Callum Hetherington was the clear standout in Bannockburn’s narrow nine-point triumph over Geelong West with 30 disposals, 10 marks and 150 ranking points.
