After a highly-successful event in 2022, the NT News’ Future Northern Territory campaign returns next month as the push to create a $40bn economy by 2030 continues.
This year’s campaign will continue the focus on private and government investment opportunities, exploring the Territory’s energy, education, tourism and defence sectors as well as delving into major projects and housing.
In late August, the NT News will launch a two week editorial campaign exploring these key areas, how our economy has progressed in the past year and what new challenges and opportunities have emerged.
The campaign will culminate in a lunch event on September 8, hosted by Joe Hildebrand, that will include a panel discussion hosted by Sky News Darwin Bureau Chief Matt Cunningham, who has worked as a journalist in the Northern Territory for more than 12 years.
This panel discussion will explore what the Territory is doing and what it needs to do to achieve a $40bn economy by 2030 – a goal set by the government in 2022.
Guests will hear from key representatives from the NT Government, Tivan Limited, Tamboran Resources and Charles Darwin University.
Demographer Simon Kuestenmacher will also return as a special guest, sharing his insights on how the Territory can achieve and sustain a $40bn economy in the next eight years.
The NT News has a long history of standing side-by-side with Territorians to campaign for a fair go and is excited to continue the Future NT series.
