Forty-six artistic students have landed a spot in the Northern Territory’s Museum and Art Gallery’s prestigious Exit Art gallery and are waiting to hear if their masterpieces will be among the 2024 winners.

MAGNT director Adam Worrall said the next installation of the exhibit highlighted a “remarkable depth and breadth of creativity” among students from Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek.

“At MAGNT, we are dedicated to nurturing these emerging artists, providing a platform for their voices to resonate and their practice to evolve,” Mr Worrall said.

MAGNT is committed to supporting these budding young artists as they embark on their exciting journeys beyond Exit Art,” Mr Worrall said.

“Congratulations to all the student finalists whose works are featured in Exit Art, the creativity and insight embody the promise of an exciting future in the arts.”

The student submissions include photography, film, paintings, and mixed media.

The finalists are vying for a top spot across five categories: the Minister’s Choice Award, Jacksons Drawing Supplies Award, Darwin Visual Arts Award, Tactile Arts Award, and the Art Educators of the Northern Territory Award.

Education Minister Eva Lawler said the exhibition was a “pinnacle of the Northern Territory arts calendar”.

“Exit Art serves not only as an exhibition of exceptional works but also as a testament to the thriving artistic spirit within our communities, uniting Darwin, regional and remote areas in a celebration of creativity,” she said.
