A 28-year-old man remains in hospital today with serious injuries after a quad bike he was riding crashed near the Finke Desert Race Track on Saturday.
Southern Watch Commander Allan Milner said emergency services were called to a single-vehicle off-road crash at about 11.30pm on Saturday.
He said two men, both aged 28, had crashed a quad bike about 80km south of the Finke finish line.
“One of them suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, and the other passenger suffered minor injuries as a result,” he said.
“They were extremely lucky things had not been worse.”
The 28-year-old with serious injuries remained in a stable condition at Alice Springs hospital on Sunday.
Cdr Milner said the men were members of the public who had travelled to the Red Centre to watch the Finke Desert Race on the weekend.
