THE family of a Melbourne man believed to be missing in a Nitmiluk National Park are desperately calling on anyone who may have information about his whereabouts to come forward.
Daymon Ness, a 30-year-old man from Melbourne, had been travelling alone and arrived in Katherine from Darwin by hire car on Monday.
Police believe he arrived alone at the Nitmiluk National Park sometime after 1pm on Tuesday and went for a walk on one of the Nitmiluk trails but did not return.
Daymon’s father William Ness said his son told a friend that he was going for a walk around Katherine Gorge on Tuesday.
“He missed a Zoom call on Tuesday night with a friend and had told that friend that if he didn’t make that phone call, they should make contact with the police,” he told Mix 104.9.
“It’s very out of character to not hear anything from him.
“He does enjoy the outdoors and goes for hikes but it’s never an overnight hike.”
He said Daymon was stopping by Katherine while on his way to Alice Springs to meet some friends.
His parents will be flying up to Darwin from Melbourne today, as police and Parks and Wildlife staff continue a full scale search for Daymon.
“We’re obviously extremely worried,” Willam Ness said.
“If anyone has seen him at all or thinks they might have seen him, if they can please call the police.
“Even if it’s just a small piece of information, you might think it’s insignificant, but it could be really helpful for the police.”
Daymon is described as a caucasian male, thin build, 185–190cm tall, dark brown hair, hazel eyes and was last seen wearing a black top, green/grey pants and red shoes.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen Mr Ness or knows of his whereabouts to contact them on 131 444
