The family of a 20-year-old woman who drowned at Dundee Beach last week while visiting with her partner have paid tribute to her.

Anthony Russell paid the tribute on behalf of his family, to his sister Courtney, who died last Wednesday.

“We are heartbroken we have lost a beautiful soul taken way too early,” Mr Russell said.

“You will always be in our thoughts and hearts. You have made a massive impact in so many lives. Rest in peace our beautiful sister and daughter Ant, Mum and Dad.”

The family, who the NT News understand are based between Darwin and Perth, were supported by their family and friends online as they grappled with the tragic incident.

At the time of the incident, St John Ambulance Territory duty manager Craig Garraway said CareFlight had tended to Ms Russell and she was taken to the Belyuen health clinic.

“We did have a triple-0 report about 3pm yesterday of an incident at Dundee — unfortunately I believe a patient there has passed away as a result of drowning,” he said.

“A patient appeared to have drowned we did give advice over the phone there and co-ordinated with CareFlight and the health clinic out at Belyuen there.”

The passing was not deemed suspicious by police.
