The NT’s best-known festival of light will return to Alice Springs for its 10th iteration with a twist.
Parrtjima will light up the night from April 4-13 in the new year, but a special one-night-only performance by the Darwin Symphony Orchestra is set to bring in more visitors than ever.
Curator Rhoda Roberts AO said the 2025 festival would explore the theme of timelessness and celebrate the world’s oldest continuous culture.
“Culture transcends time, bridging ancient stories that have shaped us, even when it has faced interruption and policy-driven division,” Ms Roberts said.
“Parrtjima ensures a space where we all feel special, as the lights illuminate the timeless essence of our culture and our country Australia.
“At Parrtjima, we are reminded by the Arrernte people that timeless culture invites us to experience, learn, and connect.”
On April 12, ticketholders can attend a 75-minute open air show as the DSO takes the stage alongside celebrated Desert Divas Catherine Satour, Casii Williams and Bronwyn Stuart, and more.
DSO general manager Kate Stephens said she was thrilled to have the entire orchestra travel to the light show as part of their Territory Tour.
“This will be an unforgettable experience, not just for us, but for everyone who joins us at Desert Park,” she said.
“It’s a performance you won’t want to miss.”
Tickets will be freely available on the Parrtjima website.
