A MAN has made a lucky escape after being attacked by a crocodile in flood waters in Daly River.
The made, who is in his early 20s, was in waist-deep water when the crocodile bit his leg and then “gave him a bit of a brush up” on the hand in the community of Daly River, also known as Nauiyu.
Local resident Ken Baumann said although the crocodile was small, the man was lucky to not have been seriously injured.
“It missed the main arteries so he survived. If it had he would have been dead in 10 minutes,” he said.
“He’s out walking around. He’s just got to get his course of needles over the next few weeks (for bacteria from the crocodile bite).”
Mr Baumann said there were a number of community members in the water at the time, with around “20 bystanders.”
