A WHOPPING 4.5m croc was getting a little too close for comfort for members of a remote community on the Daly River, before he was caught by a team of cops and rangers on Saturday.
NT chief croc wrangler and ranger Tom Nichols said police received a call from concerned members of the Nauiyu community, on the banks of the river, saying the croc had been moving progressively closer to shore.
A croc trap was set on Thursday, with the 4.46m beast snagged on Saturday morning and taken to a croc farm near Darwin.
“That’s the biggest one we’ve caught this year, and it’s not an unusual thing during the wet season,” Mr Nichols said.
