THE 29-year-old woman who drowned at Edith Falls last weekend has been identified as a Chinese National.
The woman drowned on the morning of Saturday, August 24 at the upper pools of the popular swimming hole, which is just north of Katherine.
POLICE to investigate death at Edith Falls
She drowned despite members of the public trying to rescue her, police said in a statement.
NT Police divers were called in to retrieve the woman’s body.
A police spokeswoman would not say if the woman was living in the Territory prior to her death or had been a tourist.

Police had to undertake extensive efforts to notify her next of kin.
The spokeswoman said her family had been made aware.
NT Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
