Two minor crashes on the same stretch of road have kept paramedics busy in Darwin while two men were taken to hospital after jumping from a train in Alice Springs

TWO teenagers have been hospitalised after jumping off a train near Alice Springs.

At 5.45am Sunday cops were called out to help St John Ambulance paramedics after receiving reports a12-year-old boy and 17-year-old man were injured after they jumped from a moving train.

St John Ambulance Territory Duty manager Craig Garraway said the men had injured themselves as the landed.

“We did transport two people to hospital, both young males dislocated shoulders and fractured arms,” he said.

Police found out that five other people were also on the train.

It forced the closure of rail services across the NT/SA region for four hours while police searched for the missing group.

Police, concerned for the welfare of the group, used a drone and mobile patrols in cars and on motorbikes to conduct sweeps of the rail corridor.

Officers worked with railway employees searching areas along the track for the missing group.

At 10am the five youth were found at Hugh River and taken back to Alice Springs and into the care of their responsible adult/guardian.

Police continue to investigate and no charges have been laid at this time.

Two minor car crashes on Dick Ward Dr kept paramedics busy in Darwin over the weekend,

“On Saturday evening a two car motor vehicle accident no injuries. That was on Dick Ward Dr in Coconut Grove,” he said.

“We had another one yesterday about 1am yesterday morning in Ludmilla on Dick Ward Dr. It was a car versus a tree but there were no injuries at that incident.”
