CHIEF Minister Michael Gunner says he is “shocked” over NT Health’s COVID-19 laksa misidentification kerfuffle.

The COVID-19 health messaging poster, designed to prompt Territorians to get tested if they develop symptoms like loss of smell and taste, used the slogan “Can’t taste your laksa? Get tested!”.

Unfortunately the poster, which would have gone through multiple levels of bureaucratic approval, had a photo of a bowl of tom yum instead of a laksa.

Mr Gunner has since responded, saying he was “just as shocked” as other punters to see “our beloved laksa accidentally misrepresented on the socials” before describing it as a “shame job”.

“Sending all the creatives ‘laksa love’ right now as they cope with this shame job,” he said.

“But hey, let’s not cry over spilt Tom Yum – everyone makes mistakes.

“We’ll make sure the relevant (people) are educated before this year’s Laksa Festival.”
