ALICE Springs properties that are priced and presented well are getting snapped up quickly and selling for more than anticipated, according to local realtors.
Toni Rowan and Drew Hendriks have launched their own venture to bring a new approach to the real estate realm.
The husband and wife team have more than three-years experience each in the local property market and launched the Red Centre’s newest real estate agency – Alice Springs Realty on April 9.
The pair said they were taking up a “fresh and modern approach” to the industry by using social media platforms to sell homes such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and LinkedIn.
This includes authentic videos of the pair presenting new properties on the market online.
At a property they advertised on Facebook last week, 17 people had registered to attend the first open inspection.
Agents representative, Ms Rowan said averages at their opens so far were “significantly higher than last year”.

She said recognising the need to keep up with the latest technologies was imperative in the housing market, particularly in the wake of the pandemic.
“We looked at a very successful real estate agent in Australia – Lisa Novak – and we thought, ‘Let’s do that in Alice Springs’, which is selling off social media before it goes to paid portal, so there’s zero marketing fee.”
Director and agent, Mr Hendricks said the couple had found success in the unscripted videos where they were “being real”.
“Promoting properties via live feed on Facebook to the market is raw and it’s honest,” he said.
Ms Rowan said putting properties on social media had garnered instantaneous responses.
“A lot of times we don’t go on at a price, we let the market tell us because they know what something’s worth,” she said.
“We organise an open time so everyone comes through, and we go, ‘What do you think it is worth, would you like to make an offer?’. So we’re selling without having to go to paid platforms.”
She said by doing so house owners are saving about $1000 in fees straight up by avoiding advertising on real estate platforms online.
