What you need to know about the ANZAC Day changes in Alice Springs

ANZAC Day in Alice Springs will look a little different this year, with a COVID-19 social distancing plan in place to ensure a safer event.

ANZAC Day in Alice Springs will look a little different this year, with a COVID-19 social distancing plan in place to ensure a safer event.

The traditional ANZAC Hill Cenotaph site will not be used due to social distancing restrictions.

The community is invited to attend a Dawn Service at the Alice Springs Garden Cemetery Soldiers Memorial on ANZAC Day at 6am, followed by a shortened march through Todd Mall to ANZAC Oval, where the midmorning service will be held.

The route for the ANZAC Day march will commence in front of the Council Chambers.

The route will proceed through the Todd Mall to Wills Terrace, turn left and proceed to the ANZAC Oval main entrance.

The Reviewing Officer Dias will be positioned in Todd Mall to receive the salute.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing requirement there will be no seating for spectators.

‘Form up’ for the March will be on Todd St in front of the Alice Springs Town Council at 9.20am for a 9.30am start.

Wreaths can be laid at the ANZAC Hill Cenotaph throughout the day to comply with social distancing requirements.
