A BIZARRE looking doorway-like cloud recently appeared over Alice Springs, leaving people across the town puzzled.
Alice Springs resident Michael Robertson was taking some photos after a storm hit in town when he spotted the strange cloud about two weeks ago.
“It is pretty unique — I have never seen a cloud formation like this at all,” he said.
“I photograph a lot of clouds and landscapes, this one just appeared for no reason.

“I’m sure it could be explained from temperature inversions and pockets of warmer air, but the definition of the ‘doorway’ is quite perfect.”
