TEMPERATURES are set to soar 7C above the August average for Alice Springs this week with a consistent run of hot days forecast.
The warm weather is due to a ridge along the east coast of Australia weakening.
“Warm, fresh north-westerly winds will redevelop across the southern NT on Thursday ahead of the next trough,” the Bureau of Meteorology weather situation reads.
“This will see the possibility of showers and one or two storms over the Simpson District late in the week.”

The average maximum temperature for Alice Springs in August is 22.7C, but most days this week are forecast to be in the high 20s and tipping into the 30s on some days.

There’s a slight to medium chance of rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the
Simpson District tomorrow, contracting east during the day.
Sunny with a top of 23C on Saturday before warming up again on Sunday with 29C forecast, and 30C forecast for next Monday, and a mild 27C for Tuesday.
Minimum temperatures range from 6-10C throughout the week with mostly sunny conditions.
