CDU to offer short courses on emergency and disaster health
The courses will include information on how to prepare and respond to a communicable disease outbreak and injuries or illnesses resulting from natural disasters.

With natural disasters wreaking havoc across the planet and the world still feeling the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Charles Darwin University is now offering four micro-credential courses on how to best manage and prepare for a crisis.
Run through the CDU Menzies School of Medicine, the university will offer two courses, Communicable Disease Outbreak Management and Natural Disasters, with applications open in semester one.
The next two offerings, Disaster Preparedness and Human-made Disasters, will open for applications at a later date.
CDU Menzies School of Medicine senior lecturer Angela Sheedy said the courses were aimed at people wanting to step in and help combat issues being seen more and more everyday.
“These courses have been developed with experts who have lived experience in the areas of emergency and disaster health responses,” she said.
“This year in Australia we have witnessed floods, wildfires, and the ongoing threat of communicable disease outbreaks.
“The CDU School of Medicine is invested in ensuring those who want to work in these areas have access to the best education and resources possible.
“Those interested in working in disaster and emergency response need to be ready for anything, and this selection of short courses allows participants to choose which area of Disaster Health they want to complete to enhance their skills and knowledge.”
Enrolment for both Communicable Disease Outbreak Management Natural Disasters is open now, with applications closing April 19.
Emergency and Disaster Preparedness and Response, and Human-made Disasters enrolment is scheduled to open in semester two.
